Introducing GigaView820, Marmitek’s Second Generation Wireless HDMI

Marmitek has released an upgrade to its GigaVideo800 HDMI wireless transmitter to the GigaVideo820 with the latest in DHMI technology. While others are just introducing wireless HDMI, Marmitek said they have been offering wireless HDMI solutions in Europe from April of 2009.  The new GigaVideo820 supports a range of resolution up to 1080i and 1080p and fully supports the HDCP standard, which prevent the illegal coping of digital content. It is now available for a recommended retail price of 399eur or £359.

AMIMON Unveils the WHDI Stick for Easy Wireless PC to TV Connectivity

According to Amimon Consumer Electronic manufacturers will bring a new wireless PC to HDTV solution out next year. It is called the WHDI Stick and is currently being demonstrated at the CEATEC Show in Japan. The WHDI Stick is a small version of the recently released Asus WiCast and HP Wireless TV, which allows you to stream whatever is on your tablet, laptop, netbook or desktop PC onto a television wirelessly.

Intel’s Light Peak to Light up the Connected Home

Intel is on its way to making intra-home communications between devices travel at the speed of light- literally.  At this year’s developers forum they demonstrated a new fibre optic solution called Light Peak.  Intel believes that with the current demand that our lifestyle and applications place on the current solutions (HDMI, Powerline Ethernet, USB, FireWire, DVI and DisplayPort) they soon will not be able to keep up.

armTrident and ARM have collaborated to develop a new Set-top Box platform that according to both companies offers the best of Web 2.0 and media broadcasting.  Built on the ARM powerful Cortex-A Series processors, the new Trident Set-top Box, they said, will allow users to browse the internet, view TV programming, run rich internet applications and share various media content anywhere and anytime.  Also operators will be better able to target their content package to maximise advertising revenue.

Marvell Adds Support For RVU Protocol on ARMADA 1000 Chip

This is expected to benefit operators by allowing them to provide a consistent viewing experience and features to connected CE devices, while consumers benefit from a standard user experience throughout the home without the need for separate proprietary devices.
