On-Ramp Wireless Signs Smart Grid Reseller Agreement with SAIC

On-Ramp Wireless has announced that it has signed an agreement with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to become a value added reseller and systems integrator of On-Ramp's Ultra-Link Processing(ULP) wireless systems in North America and the UK. As SAIC deploys Smart Grid as a Service (SGS) for utility customers, this agreement will enable the companies to offer complete system solutions to address all aspects of the Grid, from Smart Meter/AMI to Distribution Automation and risk mitigation applications.

As part of its continued development of intelligent Smart Grid initiatives, Black Hills Corp., whose utility subsidiaries provide electric and natural gas service to approximately 762,000 customers in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming, has chosen Siemens Energy, Inc. to integrate the eMeter EnergyIP  meter data management system (MDMS) into its information technology systems.

Alcatel-Lucent and China's SGIT Partner on Smart Grid Technology

Alcatel-Lucent and China's State Grid Information and Telecommunication Co. are teaming up to help utilities more effectively manage peak electricity demand, identify opportunities for power savings and cut down on energy usage.

The two companies will do this by increasing the intelligence in utilities' power distribution systems, or smart grids, which allow the continuous measurement, monitoring, control and adjustment of power distribution.

Cable&Wireless and Silver Spring Collaborate on Smart Grid and Metering Initiatives

Boeing and Siemens Form Smart Grid Strategic Alliance

Boeing and Siemens have announced a strategic alliance for the joint development and marketing of "smart grid" technologies to improve energy access and security for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the largest energy consumer in the federal government.

The collaboration centers on providing U.S. military installations with secure microgrid management solutions that lower operational costs and increase energy efficiency.
