Vodafone has added Greece to it list of countries using its residential Femtocell service.  With this launch Vodafone now has Femtocell commercial services in four countries: Spain, UK, Qatar and now Greece – only the UK and Greece are residential.  The service, which uses the Vodafone Access Gateway brand, rather than Sure Signal, is being provided for free or with a discount to postpaid subscribers.

The implementation of a Femtocell is handy for homes that suffer form low mobile signals.  A Femtocell gateway increases the mobile signal strength and reduce the cost for users and can also be configured as part of a home automated setup.

Like Softbank of Japan who have launched a free ADSL and Femtocell service, Vodafone Greece will off the service free. Figures have shown that the take up Femtocell services has been slow, so Vodafone and other operators have taken a different approach to it into our homes.
