'Vodafone Internet TV' Coming to Spain

Vodafone Spain announced that they are planning to launch a connected TV solution called 'Vodafone Internet TV' for its Spanish customers.  According to IpTV-news, the service will combine both free-to-air and pay DTT channels (including HD), an intelligent HD PVR, content streaming from the home network via DLNA technology, access to various Internet video services via Widgets, OTT portals and catch-up TV. So far they have selected Wyplay to provide a Hybrid IPTV Box.

The Diffusion Group (TDG) has release a new report entitled “The In-Home CE Ecosystem of U.S. Broadband Households: 2010”. The report highlights the shift of the connected device from the home office to the living room where more devices are connected. It compares the location of hubs, routers and gateways in today’s homes with those of a few years ago. It looks at the shift also in terms of the types of content that is consume, how it is more web/internet centric.

Netgem and Toshiba have collaborated on a multifunction adapter to offer “Toshiba Places” for the French market. Through this new multifunction device French users will be able to access online services from their television.  The “Toshiba Places” was designed to optimised the TV experience, through it you can access a range of entertainment services, which include the ability to share your digital content (multimedia) with friends and relatives and watch video-on-demand.

LG to Integrate Plex Software in Netcast Connected TVs and Blu-rays

Airties Launches Wireless Connected TV Solution Air 4420

Airties a supplier of digital home wireless devices has release it latest wireless solution called Air4420.  According to Airties the Air4420 works with network-enabled TVs, media players as well as IPTV or hybrid SAT/Cable/DTT set-top boxes to connect to other home devices and the internet. It is UPnP compatible and with the addition of an external drive the Air4420 can act as an UPnP media server, enabling you to play music, show videos and photos on UPnP AV compatible TVs and Media Players.

Panasonic Certifies Netgear N600 USB Wireless Adapter for VIERA TV

Panasonic has partnered with Netgear to offer wireless internet video access via its VIERA TVs.  Starting with the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter and other adapter will be by a “Compatible with Panasonic” sticker.  With one less wire to run, the partnership enables users to easily connect their Panasonic Television to a wireless router and access online content from their living room through the TV.

Zoran has selected Sonic Solution RoxioNow entertainment for it new advanced SupraHD TV processor reference design.  The integration of RoxioNow on the SupraHD TV chip is to allow TV manufacturers to make televisions that will integrate into today’s connected homes.  When connected to other devices, televisions using the SupraHD TV processor will be able to stream different digital content to and from their TVs.

Zoran announced that television developed with their SupraHD 675 HDTV processor have start shipping to European and Australian markets, with other countries due next quarter.  The SupraHD 675 processor supports the latest internet connected television for the European and worldwide connected home market, with support for DVB-T, ISDB-T and DMB-T.
