Rovi Corporation has decided to spread it tentacles wider in the digital home solutions market place with the acquisition of Sonic Solutions. Both companies made the joint announcement last week that the Rovi will acquire Sonics in through a combination of stocks and shares worth about $720 million US dollars. With the acquisition of Sonic Rovi has stepped into the digital video processing, playback and distribution technologies.
Catch Media and Rovi have partnered to extend Catch Media digital media offering. Both companies have signed an agreement that will allow Catch Media to integrated Rovi’s entertainment data and technology into catch media’s Play Anywhere entertainment solution platform. The integration of Rovi solutions into the Catch Media platform is designed to enable users to find information and rich media content about their favourite music and artists in their home media playlists where ever and when ever they want.
SFR of France has left no stone unturned with its sixth generation Neufbox home gateway – dubbed Neufbox Evolution. The box is a set-top box and home gateway all in one; it offers IPTV multiscreen access, Femtocell connectivity, the ability to connect directly to ADSL and Fibre-to-the-home and a host of other functions. The new systems are available to US shoppers from Best Buy and Amazon.
