Motorola's New Range of SURFboard Modems & Home Gateways

Motorola’s Home & Network Mobility business this week announced a new range of it’s SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 modem and integrated gateways.  The new devices is designed to deliver better broadband and IP-based voice and data service.  This new range of SURFboard is two times faster than their previous range of DOCSIS 3.0 products and supports high-bandwidth Gigabit Ethernet (GiGe) home networking and channel bonding of up to eight downstream and four upstream channels.

Next Generation System-on-a-Chip Set-top Box Solutions from Broadcom

Broadcom, a fables semiconductor company that specializes in wired and wireless home networking solution, this week announced a new HD cable set-top-box system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution with their BCM7119 and BCM7125 chips.  The new technology will allow manufacturers and cable service provider to offer the latest in connected home technology at a cheaper price.

The Xtreamer eTRAYz can fully function as a stand alone NAS server that has similar functionalities to any Qnap or Synology.

ST&T Uses Intellon’s HomePlug AV-Based INT6400 for HD Media Link System

Intellon Corporation, a leading provider of HomePlug-compatible integrated circuits (ICs) for home networking, networked entertainment, Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) and smart grid applications, announced that ST&T Electric Corporation, a Taiwan-based broadband solution provider, has integrated Intellon’s newest HomePlug AV chipset, the INT6400, into its new HD Media Link System (Model HDAV 6490). The system moves HD video from source devices to TVs throughout a home using the existing electrical wiring.

Belkin Home Base lets anyone within an existing wireless network print to a single, shared printer from anywhere in the home. Attach an external hard drive to one of Home Base's four USB ports to save and share music, pictures, and videos with your family. Home Base will automatically back up each connected computer's files periodically to a connected external hard drive, so you don't have to worry about sudden data loss. With the automatic sharing feature, Home Base can automatically upload your new photos to a Flickr or Picasa account.
