Taylor Morrison is offering Texan home buyers of different budget range the opportunity to have an interactive home. The home builder is integrating home automation technologies across its range of homes. Taylor Morrison said the connected home solution will allow home owners to screen visitors at the front door, change the music in the family room, and control their home from the palm of their hand.
Like Verizon and Rogers Cable, Swisscom is planning to offer a home automation and monitoring service to its Swiss customers. They have teamed up with iControl Networks, the provider of the OpenHome platform to develop the “Smart Living” solution for the Swiss and European markets. Both companies said through the Smart Living platform customers will be to stay connected with their home when away and be able to control home electrical appliances.
Control4 has release an upgraded version of its home automation operating system software, OS2. The company said OS2.1 comes with a host of new features that allow for easier and faster installs. One of the core enhancements is an advanced diagnostic tool “Detective Suite”, which is an installer’s tool set. Home users can expect better performance, stability and the option to have customised user interface for each room in the house.
Crestron this month released one of the market's most advanced touch panel home control solution, called the TPMC V-Panels. They are available in 12 and 15 inch models and are the markets thinnest and fully integrated home touchpanel. The TPMC V-Panel offers advance features such as high definition touch screen for rich color graphics, gesture navigation, 3D GUI animation, cover art and browsing the web.
Intel last month gave a clearer indication of their intention to play a bigger part in the connected home market, with the release of the Intel Home Energy Management Reference Design. Many companies are already using Intel’s Atom processor for the system, but Intel is going a bit further by offering a complete solution in the Intel Home Dashboard proof of concept device.
