NTT DOCOMO Buys 35 Percent Share in PacketVideo

NTT DOCOMO and PacketVideo Corporation announced that DOCOMO has acquired a 35-percent stake in PacketVideo for $45.5 million. The all-cash transaction, effective immediately, is intended to strengthen DOCOMO`s position in advanced music and video services in Japan. Both companies have been sharing technology solutions since 1998, which has seen PacketVideo`s multimedia applications being incorporated in DOCOMO`s FOMA 3G mobile network services. To date, PacketVideo`s popular CORE multimedia player, pvPlayer, has been installed in more than 90 DOCOMO handset models.

Texas Instruments is also working on seperate Wi-Fi home networking (Celeno and Texas Instruments to Enable Next-Generation Cable Modem Gateways) solution with Celeno.

Node-H Femtocell Software Achieves World First With Percello PRC 6000

3gppNode-H has integrated its 3GPP femtocell protocol software on the Percello PRC6000 femtocell SoC (System on a Chip) and shown eight calls running simultaneously. This is the first time that Super-Femtocell performance has been achieved on the PRC6000 using a protocol stack from an independent software vendor.

femtocell deviceI have a friend and whenever I call him on his mobile at home he has to stand in a certain spot in his house or go outside for us to have a clear and unbroken conversation.  Why? The mobile reception in his home is bad.  For most of the time tmobile calls are inaudible or disconnect during the conversation. Because of this he avoids mobile calls when he is at home.
