ST and SoftAtHome Collaborate on Content Streaming Solution

ST Microelectronics and SoftAtHome have collaborated to develop a client server solution that allows Service Providers to stream content to multiple devices at the sametime.  The solution is built on ST’s STiH205 and STiH416 chipset integrated with SoftAtHome software platform for management and control using the STiH205.

Affinegy's CEO Melissa Simpler Appointed Vice-Chair of CABA's Connected Home Council

The Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) announced today that Melissa Simpler, CEO of Affinegy, has been appointed Vice-Chair of CABA's Connected Home Council.

Established in 2004, the CABA Connected Home Council initiates and reviews projects that relate to connected home and multiple dwelling unit technologies and applications. The Council also examines industry opportunities that can accelerate the adoption of new technologies, consumer electronics and broadband services within the burgeoning connected home market.

Tendril Released Enhanced Version of HEM Suite - Tendril Energize

Tendril releases new version of Tendril Energize software.  This upgraded version of the software will enable support for customers who are not connected to a smart meter or an advance meter infrastructure.  Therefore, customers with no meter reading data and only monthly bills can use the application to manage their energy use and save money on their utility bill.

NTT Docomo Launches Dual 3G and LTE Femtocell

Today the world received its first dual mode femtocell or small-cell base station supporting both 3G and LTE simultaneously.  Developed by NTT DOCOMO, the new femtocell units will make it even easier for homes in mobile signal dead spot to remain connected.

The Femtocell device is plug-and-play and provides 3G/LTE service coverage in a range of up to a long distance, depending on actual conditions. It automatically configures itself upon connection to the surrounding devices in its surroundings.

More Connected Car Technologies Coming To CES 2013

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced that Seven of the top 10 car manufacturers will showcase their latest car technologies at CES in January. Audi, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Kia and Subaru the new comer to CES will be displaying their connected systems in infotainment, communication, safety and driver assistance solutions and services. There will also be more than 110 total automotive tech companies, including Delphi, Mitek, Pioneer and more at the show.

Channel Islands and Isle of Man Get Hybrid TV Services

France’s Neuilly-sur-Seine has partner with Getgem’s hybrid IPTV services to its customer base in Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Neuilly-sur-Seine is already a broadband provider in both areas; with the Netgem solution Neuilly-sur-Seine will be able to Over the Top (OTT) live and non-linear content to Netgem’s hybrid Set-top boxes (STB).
 

Verizon Adds Connected Car Services to Portfolio

Therefore, it is no surprise that Verizon has acquired Hughes Telematics, a specialist in developing connected services for the automotive industry. For a sum of $612 million, Verizon adds Hughes connected car services to its Verizon Enterprise Solutions group.

Comcast Add HD Video Calling To Xfinity Home Services

Comcast has partnered with Technicolor and Entropic to extend its Xfinity Home services solution to include Xfinity HD Video conference calling.  The Xfinity HD video services will enable customers to make video calls with friends and family while watching TV via their set-top box or connected TV.  The platform was built on Technicolor’s 720p HD telepresence adapter and is powered by Entropic’s ARM Cortex-A9 high performance media processor.
