Emerson has launch its first heating and cooling monitoring solution, ComfortGuard. The solution will monitor the home’s heating and cooling in real-time to alert the homeowner of any immediate issue and any that are developing. With ComfortGuard enables homeowners to improve their home’s HAVC service by preventing energy waste and costly repairs.

Tecom and Prime Electronics Select Sigma CG5200 Chip

Advanced networking supplier Tecom and set-top box manufacture Prime Electronics have selected Sigma Designs G.hn CG5200 chipset family for a range of new consumer devices.  The Sigma G.hn powerline chipset enables whole-home coverage of Triple play and IPTV over all power lines, coaxial wires and phone lines with MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) to connected devices.

NOOK Samsung Galaxy Tab4 Coming In August

NOOK Media a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble has collaborated with Samsung Electronics America to offer NOOK’s reading software on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 7-inch version.  As part of the partnership owners of the new “Samsung Galaxy NOOK” will have access to Barnes & Noble’s content, of more than three million books, leading magazines and newspapers. Customers will also have the option to buy the “Samsung Galaxy NOOK” or NOOK eReader (NOOK GlowLight).

What Took Apple So Long?

Over the last couple of weeks the news has been a washed with speculation on what the new Apple home solution will be. On Monday at the Apple annual Worldwide Developers Conference, the mystery solution was finally unveiled as Apple Homekit, a new connected home solution coming to your home soon. I think what Apple done this week; they should have done from 2009 or even earlier.  Why? Because it was from then that the public and home automation solutions providers need their support.

Global Digital TV Market Forecast for 2020

Based on forecasts for 138 countries, global digital TV installation is set to accelerate over the next few years up to 2020. Homes with digital TV will increase to about 1.68 billion within the same period; 2014 alone will see an increase of 131 million, according to The Digital TV World Household Forecasts report from Research and Markets.  Digital cable TV will become the most popular accounting for 33.6% of the world's TV households.

CEA to Establish Standards to Measure Energy Consumption

CEA wants manufactures of small home networking devices to sign up to new industry energy measurement protocol. When the association met last week for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Technology & Standards Forum, they announced the appointment of a Network Device Energy Consumption Working Group to help CE manufactures to use the same methods to test their device’s energy consumption.

In a statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) they highlighted the possibility of serving ads and other contents via our refrigerators, car dashboards, thermostats, glasses, watches plus others.
